Toke Makinwa`s first job was at Zenith Bank. It was obvious that her parents could have been very glad that she chose this path. After a while, she decided to take a chance and move to the industry of mass media.

She started her On-Air career in 1999 at Cool FM. Still, this was not her initial success. In 2010, she was the co-host of the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant. Toke Makinwa became popular after “Rhythms of the Night” at the Rhythm 93.7 FM.

After her initial success on Radio and the Internet, Toke Makinwa costarred as a host of 3LiveChicks. Her partners in that show were Oreka Godis and Tosyn Bucknor. This show was extended to terrestrial TV stations in 2012. A lot of Nigerian celebrities starred in that show such as Bez, Tonto Dikeh, and Tiwa Savage. Toke Makinwa pictures were on the covers of “Mode Men” and “EM.” Still, she refused to return for season 2 of the show.

Toke Makinwa became a star of the show called Trending on HipTV in 2014. This news was first confirmed and publicized in Hip Hop World Magazine. During her time on the show, she was able to interview such major Nigerian celebrities like Chidinma, OC Ukeje, Femi Kuti, Eva Alordiah and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Toke has written a book about her life which is titled “On Becoming.” It`s her autobiography. She signed several endorsement contracts with Mecran Cosmetics, Nestle Nigeria, and the United Africa Company. The last contract earned her millions of Naira.

In 2017 Africa Youth Awards named him among the 100 Most Influential Young Africans, an initiative instituted to promote African youth movements and achieving and also restoring excellence in the works of young people across Africa.
