THE AFRICA YOUTH AWARDS STORY
Young Africans across the 54 nations on the continent are doing amazing things. Many are leading in politics, championing change agendas and inventing digital and technological solutions to the myriad of problems faced by African communities. Even more in this year, many young Africans have stepped up to join the fight against COVID19 as frontline workers and are leading human rights movements in these delicate times.
Africa Youth Awards believes that these young change leaders and development agents deserve to be identified, celebrated and encouraged. We strongly believe that, youth movements are taking place all over the continent and that young people are becoming successful entrepreneurs, inventors, politicians, journalists, celebrities, educators, media personalities, advocates and role models. There is a precious need and opportunity for Africa to reward these young achievers and leaders.
We have become the continent’s foremost awards initiative built by young Africans to inspire the next generation of leaders. Our greatest interest as a credible awards scheme is to highlight the works of young people changing the narrative and building an optimistic future for Africa. And that is what we have done since 2014 bringing prestige to and telling the inspiring stories of 100s of young African change leaders.
In these six years of operating, we have seen how recognising and appreciating young Africans like Dr. Ahmed Musa, Sara Nana Yeboah, Ashish Thakkar, Aya Chebbi, and many more for their achievements, greater opportunities have been and are being presented to them, which has enabled them to continue what they have started and use their stories and experiences to impact the lives of other young Africans across the world.
We are confident that the Africa Youth Awards will continue to bring together these likeminded young people who are passionate about the development and progress of Africa, and are making efforts wherever they are to see that Africa fulfils its promising potential.
